Novatis Asset Management
Novatis Asset Management is a privately owned investment
management business designed by IFAs for IFAs. We're a young
organisation - but that doesn't mean we lack experience - and we
bring a different approach to the world of investment
management.
What we do
We work for you and with you. We don't impose an investment
policy on you - instead, we work with you to create your own
bespoke policy that fits your business model and your clients. We
can offer a consultancy service that will help you get the right
processes and policies in place for your practice and then we'll
execute your strategy on behalf of your clients.
Why discretionary?
Clients today have access to more information than ever before
and with investments and financial matters constantly in the media
spotlight, many IFAs are finding that increasingly their clients
are demanding sophisticated solutions and investment management.
This means that no matter how good the strategy, it cannot be
effectively put it into practice because of the need to get
permission every time a fundamental change is needed. Busy clients
are often not available and in any case, seldom want to be bothered
with having to authorise changes.
Why not outsource?
Let's answer with a few questions: Do you want to keep your
clients in-house and under your control, with their value on your
balance sheet? Do you want to be able to offer them a better
investment experience with individually focussed outcomes? Do you
want your own bespoke portfolios for your clients, portfolios that
fit snugly with your financial planning process?
If you answered "Yes", "Yes" and "Yes" to those questions, then
you should to talk to us about creating your own investment policy
and executing your strategies from within your own practice.
How?
That's where we come in. We'll help you establish an investment
committee, design your practice's bespoke investment policy, asset
allocations - even your own model portfolios if you wish - and then
we'll execute the strategy on your behalf. You'll be able to offer
seamless integration between your financial planning process and
the investment process, with the investment management team
focussed on your clients' goals, just as you are.
Sounds expensive…
We recognise the financial constraints in running an IFA
practice and so we waive the charge for the consultancy work, so
long as we are appointed as the investment manager to execute your
policy.
What if we don't want all that?
We're pleased to offer three basic model portfolios through the
Novia platform with a split between equity (and equity-like)
content and a fixed income element in the nominal proportions of
75/25, 50/50 and 25/75 respectively - although, as you'll
appreciate, market movements and price fluctuations mean these
proportions will vary. Our annual fee for running these models is
35 bps (plus VAT) and since we use a combination of low cost
investments, the TER is low as well. We'll rebalance every six
months or whenever the asset allocation is changed, if that should
be sooner. These are not actively traded portfolios but they are
actively managed to take account of the rapidly changing global
economic and political situations. All income will be accrued to
cash and can be withdrawn (subject to the Novia minima) or retained
for reinvestment.
Who are they suitable for?
These are not risk graded portfolios. The investments in the
portfolios will be drawn from the full range of FSA authorised unit
trusts and OEICS (using institutional funds wherever possible), all
quoted equities comprising the FTSE 350 (including investment
trusts and REITS), ETFs and all British Government issued stock
(Gilts).
It's for you to decide whether or not they're suitable for your
clients but rest assured that they'll get the same attention to
detail that we give to all the portfolios we run.
